WHY DO I HAVE KNEE PAIN?

Your knee is a type of hinge joint where your tibia (shin bone) meets your femur (thigh bone). These major bones are protected by cartilage and linked together by muscles, tendons, and ligaments that all connect together around your knee. With so many different components in your knee joint, a lot can go wrong.

If you have knee pain, it can (of course) stem from an injury. Or you could have knee pain that comes from a chronic degenerative condition. Some of the most common causes of knee pain include:

✔️ Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury

✔️ Bone fractures

✔️ Tendinitis or bursitis

✔️ Torn meniscus

✔️ Dislocated kneecap

Knee pain can certainly be a warning sign of arthritis. Though more than 100 types of arthritis exist, some of the most well-known kinds that affect your knee are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and even gout.

The team at Bodyology Regenerative Medicine with Brian F. Humphreys MD works with you to find knee pain solutions that provide immediate relief while working to strengthen your knee and prevent future pain. Your knee pain care plan can include:

  • Chiropractic adjustments
  • Specialized bracing
  • Ultrasound-guided corticosteroid or hyaluronic acid injections

You may even be a candidate for stem cell therapy, which involves injecting stem cells into your knee joint. Over the following weeks as the stem cells start stimulating the growth of healthy new tissues, inflammation and pain start to subside.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

With any new treatment, we understand that patients have many questions regarding safety and efficacy. So let’s dispel some of the worries and concerns you may have about stem cell treatment for pain.

Watch the video or scroll down to get Dr. Humphreys' answers to some of your most common questions.

How long will it be before I get pain relief?

Once you've received the treatment, actually, the healing begins right away, but you may not be feeling better. And the treatment actually may not start working in your mind for a couple of weeks.

What is the success rate for pain treatment with regenerative medicine?

Well, the success rate will vary depending on what we're treating for you. But in general, we get an extremely good success rate up to 94% of our patients so far, seem to be getting significant benefit in pain relief and healing.

How many injections do I need?

Generally, we only decide that after the first injection, we may give as many as six injections, or as few as the one injection. Average is about four injections.

How long will the stem cell therapy injection last?

That's a little bit harder to answer. Your original tissue was meant to last a lifetime. This tissue is also intended to last a lifetime. But if you're hard on the tissue the way you were on your original tissue, it may not do exactly what it's supposed to do and lasting. Typically, if the injection needs to be repeated, you and I will make that decision together.
